This trail requires route finding. Finding the proper parking spot is not straightforward. The trailhead doesn't exist. We bush whacked first towards the treed spur as it looks promising way to get to the ridge. It was steep and rocky and not easy to navigate through. We had a GPS track from other group who followed the rock slides and decided to try it out. It proved to be a better way. There were also ribbons and some cairns there but not easy to see. After gaining elevation of about 300m, we saw another trail that comes via the spur so there might an alternative trail up that we didn't find.
Once we got to the ridge, the views opened up amazingly. That took about 1 1/2 hours. Plus the flower bloom and I should say it again it was amazing. The faint trail that followed, almost disappeared and it was not easy to decide the best approach. We came down the steep slopes covers by the followers. It was the most difficult part for me. The objective was to connect to old trail of McGuire that located on the east ridge. There is no trail. It goes up and down few spurs. It might make it easier if we went down further. We might have avoided some of the ups and downs.
The old trail summit is steep. The peak itself requires scrambling. There is also some exposure.
The way back was not easier and took almost the same time.
This was Wanderung hike organized by Steve.
