A surprisingly attractive trail, one we decided to try after Ahmad's previous report. I echo his comments - take a mountain bike and let the first 5km speed by. After that the trail is very beautiful. We took an enormous quantity of photos and ended up turning back at the 8km point, only 3km into the scenic sections, due to our ridiculously slow pace. You will find enormous old-growth trees, luxuriant moss, and storybook forest scenes. If you're walking, you can also take the Lower Falls trail as part of your route, though the connection between that trail and the Hector Ferguson trail is very steep and you will have much difficulty if you have bikes with you.

We had no stream crossings of note up to the 8km point. There was evidence of a lot of flowing water earlier in the season, but they were all dry or mere trickles when we went through. Gold Creek is nearby for most of the route for readily-available water.

So if I read this right,...we have some hiking to do! However, for that distance, I'm an overnight guy (ultralight), i just don't know if i'm fast enough for a marathon.

The second creek was a minor one and located at 10.5Km. It was about 2.5m long. I am pretty sure that this is clear now too.
Really nice pictures, Andrew. Thanks for sharing them.

Yeah, the creek was at 11km, we went to 8. However, the water level was lower went we went, definitely. We went by at least one of Ahmad's two stream crossings where he took off his shoes and didn't even notice there was a stream to cross. The levels of gold creek in his pictures are also lower.

So conceivably the same creek that Ahmad couldn't cross is still impassable? (and you just didn't get that far?).
