A good-enough leg-stretcher, and a decent rainy-day hike thanks to the tree cover. The surroundings vary from pleasant to dismal and back again several times. Fortunately the less interesting sections are fairly short. Highlights include the old dam on Mosquito Creek and spring growth in the forest - new maple leaves, coralroot and a glorious little patch of pine sap (see photos).

We started in Lynn Valley and ended at Grouse. The Grouse Grind is officially closed while trail maintenance is underway so you have no option but to skirt the fence to get back to the parking lot. Despite recent rumours, there is still no charge to park in Lot D (on the gravel) at Grouse. Finished off with refreshments at the Bakehouse in Edgemont Village.

No issues crossing either branch of Mackay Creek. The trail has remarkably few really muddy patches. Note that a significant portion is shared with mountain bikers though we saw none.
