Well, it has certainly been a looong time since I did a hike requiring less than 2 hours to get to the summit. We drove past the gate and parked 1.5km before the end of the 4wd road, making it an 11 km round trip. Take left on the two forks past the gate at ~800m and 3km, and then right at the end of the 4wd road. Certainly would have been a very boring hike all the way from the gate.

After the end of its drivable portion, the road is heavily overgrown. I would have even called it a pleasant hiking trail if it weren't for the thorny salmonberry bushes along the road and up the trail, the turn-off for which is marked with yellow arrows. Spent 1.5h basking in the sun at the top surrounded by views in all directions; pretty good ones, especially given the little effort it took to get there. Had plenty of time to get home before making a trek to English Bay to enjoy the spectacular fireworks show put on by Spain.
