We did a crossover hike with 1 team coming along the Skyline 2 trail in Manning from Strawberry flats, while I took a team from the Skagit side to meet them at Mowich camp in the middle.
The elevation gain was more than I had done recently with a pack (1300m) so I found myself pretty sweaty.
The only reason to do this trail is so you can say you completed the whole Skyline2 trial. Mowich camp is nothing special and only in the top 1/3 do you see any views (mediocre), the rest is in forest, mostly long switch backs.
What I was warned about and did not have time for was Hozameen Ridge. Views of that were amazing and the trail looked extremely inviting. I suggest hiking in and out from the Strawberry flats, camping at Mowich, but making your destination Hozameen mountian and ridge.
Our team was fit, so it wasn't just the grind that made me unimpressed, though the weather was a bit overcast and foggy at times which did not help.
Notes:
-VERY buggy
-wildflowers are a bit early
-zero snow (except on Hozameen at the peak)
A Wanderung trip from end to end of Skyline 2 including Lone Goat, and Snow Camp.
