Lots of snow almost from the beginning but easy to walk on without snowshoes. Note that this is now a 17.5 km hike with an extra 200 m elevation gain due to the length of logging road that must be hiked (the hike books talk about driving 3 km up that road but it's no longer possible without high clearance).

It was really bright and cheery among the trees

You really need high clearance to get through a few waterbars - we lost the tip of our tailpipe going through one of them :-( If it's muddy, then you might even need 4wd

What is causing the 3km of logging road to be unusable? E.g. is it because of snow that will melt away eventually, or is the road itself bad?
