The trail has three parts: walking on a road, semi bushwacking following ribbons but no trail, and hiking a ridge which is the most rewarding section. Although there are many ribbons, there are few sections that there is none. You need know how to oriented yourself. There are few steep sections on the ridge but not too steep.

There are several bumps along the ridge till you reach Alpaca Peak. My advice that you pace yourself well in the beginning on the way up and keep your energy to the end on the way back.

You don't need snowshoes at this time but there is still snow on the ridge but well packed. We were also lucky with the weather. It was cloudy on the way up and cleared up on the way back which helped to keep the snow in fairly good conditions.

The entire hike took us about 10 hours. A long day but worth it.

P.S. check the timestamps on the pictures to know our progress
