There is a new trail with a nice small bridge that goes up to Bowen viewpoint. It is wide and zigzags gently. This saved us from breaking a fairly steep trail between the trees which can be hard although we were five. The trail could have been done for the Olympics. The disadvantage that there is no more slide down.
I found the snow condition was good. There was good traction and avalanche risk seemed to me moderate especially on the way up. It could got higher on the way down with rising temperature. It was raining and snow was quite slushy. We also saw a small slide on a fairly gentle trail.
We reached the beginning of the Saint Mark's plateau at altitude 1300m and we decided to have our lunch and eventually decided to head down after that. It was a voluntary decision. The views were like the snow: white and cold.
