We did this one as a side trip from the Elfin Lakes shelter. We left the shelter at 8:30 am with great weather. It had snowed most of the last night and we had around 10 cm of fresh snow when we started. The avalanche conditions were ok, with the snowstorm from a couple of days ago already settled. There was a lot of avalanche debris on the east side of Columnar, which looked like a couple of days old.
We skinned up to the saddle between Columnar Peak and the Gargoyles and followed the ridge up the peak.
The ride down was great with great powder and spectacular views. Took as 2 hours 40 minutes return.
