We started with light rain from the trailhead at 10:30 am which gaves us around 5.5 hours of daylight to get to the Himmelsbach hut. So we hurryed up to singing pass which we reached at around 3:30pm.
With only an hour of daylight left we had no time for a longer break and just moved on up the last steep section to Russet lake. The weather got worse and worse and when we reached the high point we were in a heavy snowstorm. The snow was very, very heavy from rain all day which later in the day must have turned into snow. The snow was so sticky that our skis were completely covered with a thick crust of snow.
We manged to find the hut with the last minutes of daylight and were glad to get at least out of the storm into the (cold) hut.
On the next day the weather was not a little bit better and we decided to go down the way we came instead of taking the route to the Whistler round house which was the original plan.
With temperatures well below zero for the night, snow conditions were much better the next day on the way down, but the snowstorm still went on.
Took us about 5 hours back down to the trailhead.

Yes, the weather in the Alpine was pretty tough. But it was a great trip anyways.

I am glad you found the hut on time. It sounds you had brutal conditions.
