Conditions were unexpectedly great. The snow is crunchy but wasn't too slippery and it wasn't slushy and we there were no bare spots on the trail. And no crowds either once off the gondola, just a few friendly fellow hikers. The Dam-Thunderbird trails were packed down enough to make crampons work well, although of course lots of people were in snowshoes. Further along towards Little Goat, the trail is much less packed and postholing was a tolerable fact of life.
We went nearly to the base of Goat Mountain and looked up it with binoculars. There didn't seem to be anyone on it.
