On the last day of the Olympics, we headed east to Flatiron Peak, which is an easier alternative to Needle Peak. We did it on its own but other options are possible such as exploring the ridge further to the south or loop back to the parking by bushwacking the other ridge parallel to Needle ridge.
Snow conditions was OK. It was soft and fun to walk on the ridge but it seemed there was a sliding risk near Flatiron bowl. We saw several recent ski tracks a long the way. The trail is well marked by orange markers from somewhere around the trailhead to the ridge. The trailhead itself is not that obvious.
On the way back, we followed the result of the hockey game through Eric text messaging his friends. We didn't know the result till we were back and heard it from the radio that Canada won 3-2 Woooohoooooooooo.
