This was a very long day. I left Vancouver at 5:30AM and drove to Rubble creek parking lot. The road to the parking lot is completely clear. I started hiking at 7:40. The first 2km or so are snow free, then the snow starts. It was pretty hard packed, and snowshoes were not needed until a little after the junction between Taylor Meadows and Garibaldi lake trails. After Taylor Meadows the trail marks are hard to find. There were previous snow-shoe/ski tracks to follow and I was glad I downloaded the GPS summer trail from this great site. I did found out that the last point on the downloaded route was a few hundred meters before you get to the view point on the ridge, though. Near Panorama Ridge there were some small avalanche debris. The snow was hard packed on the way in, coming out it melted and it was more difficult to walk on. I was back in my car at around 21:00, having walked the last 3km in darkness with a headlamp. It was a grueling day, but I was very happy to have seen the view from the ridge in winter.
