Decided to take advantage of the sunshine today but man was it cold!! Burrr!! Miho and I layered up and trekked up non the less. :)
The trail had less snow than at my house so I decided microspikes weren't necessary. Miho wore hers as she felt she required a little more grip. There were a few icy patches but nothing major. I did see others wearing theirs as well so...might be wise to have them with you. As the trail snaked its way up the side of the Mt., I felt the trail gained elevation with great ease. With all the leaves off the trees you basically see most of your view throughout your entire journey. This trail was really well marked and straight forward. Could easily be one of those you chose to do on a night hike.
The roads were cleared and sanded. The trailhead starts from basically within a housing development. I suppose if I lived in this development I would think this would be a great jaunt for some fresh air and exercise. However, I rather enjoy trails that are a little deeper into the wilderness and do not include houses in the view. :)
I would recommend this if you live nearby and maybe pressed for time.
All and all Miho and I enjoyed our first trek out together and both agreed...this wasn't anything exciting.
