Black mountain is a pleasant hike. The trail is far from the standard of black country hikes. It is quite a wide trail, well marked, and swarming with insects. I stopped by cabin lake on my way up-- its actually a charming little view! From the parkway it took us under an hour to reach the top making it ideal for a short hike with potentially a good reward. I attempted to befriend the single chipmunk at the summit but it was not interested in being remotely near me, but I still managed to snap a few pictures of the little fella. There are still quite a few people on this trail including some tough trail runners conquering slippery snow in their runners.
