Going together with the crowds heading up Chief for part of the way made me appreciate the much quieter Upper Shannon Falls trail (it branches off to the right shortly before the fork to the 1st and 2nd & 3rd peaks). A very enjoyable forest trip to the roaring Upper Falls and a nice granite outcrop with views of Squamish and 2nd & 3rd peaks of the Chief another 15 min up the trail. A bit slippery in places with chains to assist scrambling. More like an 8km rather than a 6km hike if starting from the Shannon Falls an not the Chief parking lot.
