This hike had it all, 4x4ing up a steep logging road (a good 4x4 will get you right to the end), bushwhacking through slide alder (it was pretty short and sweet), bear poo without the bear, steep snow hiking up to the col and up and along the ridge, fabulous views from a fun peak that we had all to ourselves AND great bum sliding on soft snow on the way down! No snowshoes needed, everyone wore micro spikes and a fabulous time was had by all. We ended up avoiding Mt. Mulligan altogether.
