With the sunny weather we're having, we decided to check out this trail. The access is walkable from the visitor info center, but we parked at the access right next to and almost under the highway ramp.
The trail was nice and dry, a steady climb up. The gradient was not too bad, though it got steeper as we ascend. It was a cold blustery day. In the trees, it wasn't so bad. But at the top, it's somewhat brutal. The top is basically a high segment of a rock slide, with no trees blocking the view. So the view was excellent. No sun even in mid afternoon, too low an angle.
We saw an eagle rising below us. In no time , it covered the height that took us an hour to climb, and in another minute soared so high that it's almost not visible. And, it did all that without a single flapping of wings. That was awesome.
