As if Hanes Valley was not menacing enough, my usual hiking buddy and I determined that we would try making a nearly full loop of the trail. Parking at the bottom of Grouse Mountain, we took the Baden Powell Trail to Lynn Valley headquarters. For a solid amount of the first stretch, it is straight up hill with a few stairs every now and then. Eventually it levels out but it only really felt like it was going downhill for the last 6km. The website I referenced says the trail is 7 km but a post toward the later half indicates 6.3 km remaining so my hiking partner and I estimate that the trail is roughly 8.5 kilometers.
