Moody skies with unique views of Whistler, Blackcomb, Black Tusk, Rainbow Mountain and many other peaks in the area. Basically take the Rainbow Lake trail until the second pit toilet then bushwhack your way up to the alpine and route find your way to the peak. BC Peaks & Trails Hiking GroupThere was one set of snowmobile tracks up in the alpine, which is illegal I might add... and we ran into a different set of hiker tracks 3-4 people with full crampons and 1 person with snowshoes, but we only saw two guys on our return trip back on the Rainbow Lake trail whom had failed to reach the lake. They had no traction devices and said the trail was crazy icy in sections.
Conditions: No snowshoes required... super crust still in play although weakening a little with recent sun activity. I am 200lbs+ with pack and was easily cruising over the crust without snowshoes. Take an ice axe and micro-spikes (at the very least), mini-crampons (better choice), full crampons (probably overkill but safest option).
Have fun out there, stay safe and see you on the trails!
